Okinawan Gojuryu Karate-do So-Honbu

Shikyu-Juku is the Tokyo Branch Dojo of Jundo-Kan. In Shikyu-Juku, you can learn Okinawan Gojuryu Karate-do succeeded to Jundo-Kan. It is our objective that students can maintain being sound in mind and body through Okinawan Gojuryu training methods which can be continued not only in their younger days but also in prime of life to older generation, and can go deep into the study of Okinawan Gojuryu combined with studies at school and/or their occupation.

At Junior/Junior-High Class, we teach students Basic defense and offense techniques, Kata and Kumite. Through the above practices, I would like students to learn civilities, consideration to others and strong will to achieve his/her purpose.

Okinawan Gojuryu Karatedo was founded by Miyagi Chojun Sensei who was a personal disciple of Grand Master Higaonna Kanryo Sensei. Higaonna Sensei who spent fifteen years in China and mastered kempo in Fukkien province is regarded as a restorer of Naha-Te. Miyasato Eiichi Sensei was a disciple of Miyagi Chojun Sensei and succeeded and started to teach Okinawan Gojuryu after Miyagi Chojun Sensei passed away in 1953, and opened Jundo-kan Dojo in Naha city. The well considered and designed Gojuryu training methods and structure are maintained in Jundo-Kan Dojo.
